Starting over....

Hey Everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA. I've been working on a new podcast, #SINCERELY. There I talk about relationships, past and present during Covid. It's mostly girl talk, on what I think might be on our minds and you get my perspective. If you have the time check it out!

Anyway, I thought I would write about starting over. What exactly does that mean? Well, I guess it means different things to different people. I do believe many of us are in the same boat. Thanks to Covid-19, many of us have lost our jobs, lost business opportunities, maybe closed down our existing businesses, etc... There comes a time where we must make a decision. Somethings gotta give. Some of us can not continue this waiting game to see what happens. After all a girls gotta eat. So, what do we do? I, like many, had to make a decision. I was a freelance website designer, graphic designer. I had some projects in the works Pre-Covid. Then Covid hit. Those projects began to look smaller and smaller as time continue on, as though I was looking through my rear view mirror. All my projects had been put on a permanent hold. Well, isn't that just great. I began trying to drum up business locally. Many of the businesses I had spoken to were initially interested, and within a few months had closed their doors forever...

Fast forward to 2021. I have decided to make a change. I have decided to start over. I started thinking about what it is I wanted to do now, at this stage of my life. I am now working for a kitchen retailer, as a kitchen designer. The showroom is almost completed. Now some of you may think that this is coming out of nowhere. In all actuality, it's not. I did major in interior design in college for about a year and a half. I had to drop out because my parents were getting a divorce and it was getting ugly. After that I was never able to revisit it again. So, working for this company does tap into my creative side. I do have experience in this field. I like working with people. It seems like a perfect fit for me. I am so excited to start this chapter of my life and feel as though I have come full circle.

Now this may not be true for many of you. Sometimes when we have to start over, it's like a fish out of water scenario. And thats okay. We shouldn't fear what we do not know. It's about change and change is good. It's not healthy to stay stagnant. When we are stagnant, that means we are not learning, we are not growing. Life keeps moving no matter what we do, no matter how much we try to ignore or prevent it from happening. Maybe it's not really a change. Let's refer to it as a new journey. Like that poem by Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken. You come across a fork in the road. Not knowing where either road will take you, you just start walking. Sometimes we go down a path and decide its not for us and go back. Sometimes, we've gone so far, we think HAVE to more forward, as though we have no choice. Sometimes we are afraid to go back and start over. Nothing is written in stone. Maybe the initial road we chose, was the road we were supposed to choose. Maybe, we had to learn life lessons BEFORE we can take the other road. Maybe, just maybe, we were meant to go down BOTH roads.
